Welcome to Serbian For Americans

Why "For Americans?" There's two reasons for that. One is that spellings and word use in English are in American English, not British or Canadian English. In other words, "elevator" "truck," and "color" instead of "lift," "lorry," and "colour." The second reason is that a lot of the instruction I see online for Serbian is aimed either at linguists or at people who are fluent in more than one language and can easily compare different grammars. Most Americans aren't linguists, and most Americans don't speak more than one language - and when we do it's typically a very vernacular version- it's language that "sounds right" without being grammatically accurate. So gendered endings are wrong, verbs are conjugated wrong, etc.

This is an attempt at creating a grammar and instruction on the Serbian language and Cyrillic alphabet that regular jagoffs can find accessible and useful.
